An impossible task really, but these are 50 films that I love. I tried to choose those films which I remembered having the largest impact on me and which I would happily re-watch again and again. There are painful omissions and I tried not to list more than a couple from any given director. I've also decided not to venture into the new millennium because that is when I became a cinephile and a top 50 would only just be sufficient for that decade alone.
